Alyssa Hall is a true storyteller. She writes from the heart and about places and themes she knows well. She has a knack for effortlessly infusing a vivid sense of place in her stories, as demonstrated in her very first novel, Trusting Claire. This story takes place in 1987, in Alyssa’s hometown of Newmarket, Ontario, and contains snippets of her own life hidden between the lines.
Romero Pools revisits Claire and her town, taking place some twenty years later, Although set primarily in Tucson Arizona, many of the characters from Claire return.
Wanting Aidan, followed by Hero of Blackpool, in which she introduced her PI, Joe Parrott, grew out of Alyssa’s love of England, her passion for detective stories and her compassion for people like Rita, Stefan and Hero.
Her latest, And Then I Heard The Quiet, takes the reader to the quaint village of Fort Langley, British Columbia, where the story unfolds. The year is 2018, and we are reminded of the infamous Pickton pig-farm murders, and of the events leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympics. Follow Valerie as her story takes you to Vancouver Island aboard the BC ferries, and walk with her on the beaches of White Rock and Port Moody. A compelling mystery with some surprising twists. The characters exhibit depth and complexity. A sure to please.
Alyssa has proven herself to be a known and credible novelist, as she continues to impress with good character development and intriguingly unforgettable stories.
While her previous four novels had a link in characters, adding familiarity and sense of time, And Then I Heard The Quiet is a stand alone novel and is not connected to any of the characters in her other books.
